Pain in shoulder
I had an accident recently & so I was on bed for few days. Then I returned to the pool with light work outs but I have pain in my right shoulder. Is there any internal injury in my shoulder because I have pain only when I swim.
Please help me out.

RE: Pain in shoulder
Could have to do with a lack of flexibility. Could be soreness. Could be a tear in your shoulder or rotator cuff. It's really just something that most swimmers have to deal with, so unless it starts to affect your everyday life, just strap some icebags to your shoulders for 30 minutes after practice, and see a doctor if it gets worse.

Some people have certain peculiarities in their anatomy (such as the socket of the joint being too big for the ball) that don't present unless they've been a swimmer. Anyone else wouldn't use their shoulder enough to have any problems with it, but swimmers careers can be ruined by it. There are surgeries to correct them, but this would probably be a last resort.

RE: Pain in shoulder
I think the advice to use icebags is a good advice as it can really ease the pain & give relief.
I will surely apply ice on my shoulder & let us see what happens.

RE: Pain in shoulder
I'm not a doctor!

It sounds like tendinitis to me, especially if it is at the front of your shoulder. The likely cause would be not rolling enough onto your right side when your left arm is recovering. Learn to breathe on your left side too and you may be able to feel this imbalance.

Swim fast,
Greg

Never heard of those, thanks for the information. I'll do some research on them.

I think ice bags only helps for the 24 hrs after the incident happened.

RE: Pain in shoulder
It mostly happens to the rookie swimmers.
It will need some stamina & body stretch.
