RE: Empty Stomach???
I mean, obviously it can hurt your performance and training. I guess it's not really dangerous per se, unless you've gone a LONG time without eating, but a lot of people have reported stomach aches and vomiting if they swim before having eaten anything that day.

RE: Empty Stomach???
well, you should never go swimming on an empty stomach. but with this note in mind, you shouldn't be eating alot either.
your body needs energy, especially right before a competition where your body's stored ATP (form of energy) is never enough to supply you until the end of your race. you should eat some simple carbs but not too much like vegetables, powerbars, granola bars, some fruits before your competition.
eating too much will only require more energy for your stomach to digest all the food you eat and thats why most people feel sleepy after eating a full meal.
and yes, the consequences are that you will not feel well during the training, will likely get cramps, blood sugar level is so low that you'll binge eat, and then your blood sugar level will rise, and that's dangerous because when it crashes the cycle repeats again.
so no, never swim on an empty stomach.

RE: Empty Stomach???
I usually start swimming after eating a bar of chocolate and few glass of orange juice. With an empty stomach, I simply loose my strength.

RE: Empty Stomach???
I don't think it is good idea to swim in empty stomach because you need lots of energy to swim. You'll get easily tired after few minutes or maybe you may blackout. This is purely based on my experience, and I don't know what experts on this forum has to say about this...

thanks

RE: Empty Stomach???
You should have a small snack but the food should not be bulky ones. Having too much food is not good for swimming

RE: Empty Stomach???
When I wake up, I drink some tea and maybe a biscuit, because I get stiches when I swim. After training, I eat eggs, sausages, porridge, anything really. afternoon training I try to eat some glucose and some pasta
