Hi People i have recently moved to cornwall and i would like to take up open water swimming. I went to a surf shop to try on a few wetsuits becuase this seemed the abvious place to go for a wetsuit.

I tried this wetsuit on http://www.freakfish.co.uk/rip-curl-bomb...-grey.html even though the colours are a bit flash is fit really well and was super flexible. The guy in the shop says it would be ideal for swimming, but then i looked online i found this type of wetsuit http://www.wetsuitcentre.co.uk/products.asp?pid=902. The triathlon wetsuit looks like it has smooth skin and would be better for swimming. The problem i have is i cant try this type of wetsuit on.

Does anybody have any tips on what i should be buying?

A dive shop won't have triathlon wetsuits. Try a high-end bike shop that caters to the tri crowd. (They'll have time trial bikes in stock). Mail order companies such as Wiggle will also have them, but of course you'll have to pay to ship it back if it doesn't fit.
The last time I did a Swimtrek tour the guides made us all wear wetsuits due to the huge numbers of jellyfish. I used one of their suits, an Aqua Sphere swim skin with 1.0mm body and 0.5mm arms and legs. That is much thinner than most triathlon wetsuits but I liked it because it didn't alter my buoyancy so much that I felt I had to re-learn to swim.

Got a nice wetsuit from the wetsuit centre it wasnt a triathlon, just a surf wetsuit. I have been swimming regular now for a couple of months and it feels great.
