well. i use a track start instead of the two footed start.
like SwimCoachTools said, you usually have a much faster reaction time with the track start, and with a track start you have the ability to use your hands to push as well. I found that when you use both your hands and legs, you generally go further in the air. and i recover from the side instead of from underneath by body. im the only who does this on my team. but im the only one with the furthest dive... so im guessing this trick works hahaha

Track starts feels a lot more easier for me in meets than the 2 feet start, thus propels me through the air easier than the 2 feet start. Occasionally I do the 2 feet start for the beautiful dive Big Smile

RE: Racing Starts - Two Feet or Track Start?
My own coach was taking about 3 different starts-The two-foot, fast reaction track start and a slingshot track start, eluded to in the article above. I've tried a "fast-reaction" track start once or twice, and couldn't say it made a difference. As well, people who are effective at it have monster flexibility. Two-foot is the way to go for me Smile

Some more food for thought: I was chatting with another coach in my club regarding starts, and he told me he likes to start on his toes, rather than his flat feet, in a two-footed start. Due to various injuries, I haven't been able to play around with the different concepts, but it sounds interesting. You lose a lot of stability, and from experience, stuff that involves flexing your legs with a pointed toe and bare feet result in major foot cramps.
