Important Competition prep... help!
Hi ppl,
I have rly big problem.I have a competition after a month and some days and I havent rly swum for over 7 months because there was no pool in my town.I've started 4 days ago, swimming 2 times a day(3-3.5h training ea.) I run a few miles between trainings and I also want to put on some weight...
For my age natoinal record for 200m freestyle is 1:54 and I swum it for 2:05
7 months before.
so here are the questions: Can I increase strength with 30% for that period of time and can I hit 1:54 so soon? How should I exercise most effectively without injuries and any illegal sh*t ?
help ppl :X

I also cut my times a lot before races( like 8 sec last time) but i wonder if I can do even more.

In all honesty, I don't think you will be able to cut your time as drastically as 2:05 --> 1:54 in only a month, especially with such a long distance away from the pool.

My suggestion is that you go back into the water and start swimming. Start out with lower-medium yardage and slowly work your way up, and then focus on some sprinting.

The biggest worry would be going into it way too fast, because you really need to build up the amount that you work and you can't just go into a race all out after not swimming for a really long time - you could get a serious injury.

OK.Thank ya.My coach said that there was no point in participating in this event and I'd better start preparing for the end of the season or next year. :/ However, I'll do what ya said and see if I get better Smile
