Favorite Swimming Game?
What's your favorite game to play in the pool? My favorite is Sharks and Minnows.

Basically, you have 1 shark and everybody else is the minnows, and they go on opposite sides of the pool. When somebody yells "Shark!", then the minnows try to swim to the side of the pool where the shark is, and the shark tries to tag the minnows. The minnows cannot be tagged if they are completely underwater or once they reach the other end.

Once a minnow gets tagged, he joins the Shark, and now it gets harder! Keep playing until there is only 1 minnow Big Smile

RE: Favorite Swimming Game?
Back in high school we had this game called Kill Ball.
You break off into two teams and go to opposite sides of the pool. The "ref" will toss the ball into the middle of the pool and then everyone goes for it.
To score a point you have to get the ball into the opposing teams gutter with two hands on it for 3 seconds. When one team scores the other team gets to start with the ball at their wall.
You can use any method to move the ball, be it throw, swim, run, or in some occasions, push the pile of bodies down the pool.
The only rules are no punching, or intentional kicking, and no grabbing above the shoulders. When the ball goes out, somebody just hops out and grabs it and then hops back in, then game on.

Playing on team with a bunch of guys, if we didn't have cuts and bruises, then we weren't playing it right.

Sounds almost like a free-for-all polo game. Big Smile

More like a no rules polo game. We put in a few since, we were still teammates, and still had meets we needed to be uninjured for.

RE: Favorite Swimming Game?
See Zash's first post. It's not a downloadable game, it's one you play in the pool... I'll add that the game gets even better if you play in a diving well.

A variation is called "gator" basically, you can only tag the other person if they're above the water. Obviously, you have to make restrictions (depending on the ages) of no pulling on hair/goggles/suits, but it makes the game a lot more fun.
