That's what I'm thinking, Water Polo is kind of the in-water version of it. And I know people can attach a hoop and just play basketball.

If you can use underwater cams I bet these would be great as a spectator sports.

You can make up your own game while doing swimming. For example, I usually play Frisbee and play the game with couple of friends. It is better if you mix up with guys and girls. It is great fun.

Just saw the movie Invictus about the champion Rugby team that United the rainbow nation of South Africa. In one scene they showed the field during a Capetown storm. Looked like they could just as well be playing water polo with the stadium being flooded like that. LOL
