Quadriceps and leg licks?
Hi,

After 26 knee ops (Counting arthroscope entry as op), I'm 6 months away from Knee replacement. My surgeon has said that any work to build the quads, specifically the Vastus Lateralis (I call it the teardrop quad) prior to surgery, will reap dividends when it comes to my rehab.

To that end, I started swimming (and Cycling) again but have a query.

What I'm doing is simply 20 lengths (25m Pool) using just leg kicks (Scissor kicks?) every other day. I find it much easier to do this on my back rather than on my front with a kickboard. My question is - Does front/back kicking use different muscle groups?

Don't get me wrong. By the time I finish, my quads are properly burning. But would they be burning more if I did it on my front?

Any advice that would help target the quads welcome (but bear in mind, there are lots of things I can't do due to really bad knnes - Breast Stroke Kicks for example).

Many thanks,

Oucheeeeee
