Butterfly Stroke
Hi! I am a competitive swimmer on the high school level and my specialty is obviously the butterfly. I swim it in the 200m Medley Relay (31.75sec) I pissed my coach off the other day so he made me swim the 100m fly at my one meet and I was fine for the first 50m (I was in first) but as soon as I hit my turn going into the 75m my body just shut down. Mind you I was swimming at a comfortable place for the first 50m (my coach told me to take it easy). So into my 75 I slowed down and my muscles were dead. I made it to the end with a 1:25 and I was wondering if I could get some advice on endurance. PLEASE! Smile

RE: Butterfly Stroke
I love 100 butterfly, its really hard if you don't know how to split the two 50s, what you were doing is right, start the first 50 fresh, easy swim and take it out on the last 50.

You need to work underwater kick, and the position of your arms. I like to do stretchcordz everyday, keeping high elbows when i do my stroke, also do stuff like 4x50 butterfly on 1 minute, keeping a consistent pace.

Advice
I would propably go out for a few runs and increase your distance each time. Running has helped my endurance a lot especially on my 200IM!
